Anyone who works in a demanding environment knows how disruptive emotional reactions can be. When we allow our emotions to run the show, we can damage relationships, make poor decisions, and become blind to what’s really going on.
When difficult emotions come up, we have a variety of ways to deal with them. Some people suppress what they’re feeling, cutting themselves off from important information. Others explode, lashing out and causing harm to themselves and those around them. Some even manage to skillfully communicate a need or a wish for change.
Standing in the Storm is for people who are familiar with these approaches, and are looking for another way. In this workshop, we will develop a practice for moving directly into the core of the emotion, feeling it fully while maintaining our presence.
Why would anyone ever want to do that?
Because emotional reactivity is a powerful teacher. It reveals old stories, often formed in childhood, that have hardened into patterns. These patterns run on autopilot in adulthood, limiting our ability to respond creatively and with presence to the actual situation.
We can live at the mercy of these patterns, or we can choose to feel them fully, understand how they work, and discover more freedom for ourselves. Standing in the Storm is for people ready to make this choice.
Note: This is not a beginner’s workshop. While no prior experience with the Enneagram is necessary, this is designed for coaches and conscious leaders who already have practice with doing inner work and are looking to go deeper. You can expect an engaging mix of teaching, 1:1 breakouts, and reflection exercises.
Here’s what you can expect to walk away with:
